Reach the Peak

Woo hoo! Geocaching has just announced a new campaign - "Reach the Peak."

This campaign begins August 2, 2021 and ends March 6, 2022. Each month, there will be the ability to earn 2 souvenirs based on a featured mountain peak on each continent - the Basecamp and the Summit. If you earn all 14, you'll also earn a final, meta-souvenir (Peak Performer). To earn the souvenirs, we have to earn enough points, and the point values for different types of finds will change monthly. The new point values will be shared by Geocaching on the last Tuesday of each month - before the leaderboard refreshes on the first Monday of the next month. At that point, there will be a new mountain peak with new point values and goals for the next set of souvenirs.

August's souvenirs start with the continent of Oceania and the mountain peak Puncak Jaya. The first two souvenirs of this campaign are:

1. Reach the Peak: Puncak Jaya Basecamp - 325 points
2. Reach the Peak: Puncak Jaya Summit - 4884 points

This month's point values for cache finds are:

• Multiple - 600 points
• Mystery - 500 points
• EarthCache - 450 points
• Adventure Location - 350 points
• Found it - 325 points

Keep track of your points on the leaderboard, and don't forget to start in August, or else you'll miss out on the Peak Performer meta souvenir!
