In order to round out the celestial souvenirs for this year, the December Solstice souvenir can be earned between December 20 and 22 by finding a geocache, completing an Adventure Lab location, or attending an event. The end of 2024/beginning of 2025 is upon us, and we can earn two new souvenirs by finding any geocache, attending any event or completing an Adventure Lab location. Earn the Logged 2024 souvenir from December 24-31, 2024 and the Discovering 2025 souvenir from January 1-8, 2025. Learn more about this souvenir on the official blog post .

A new celebratable (is that even a word?) day has made a calendar appearance - Adventure Day! This day reminds us that every day should be an adventure, and I love that adage - even though my days are so steeped in routine that they are yawn-worthy. To offset that, whenever I take a vacation, or even a three-day weekend trip, I try to make it worth it by trying new things and going to new places, or just finding one thing to do that's interesting. This year, the souvenir for International EarthCache Day can be earned from October 11-13, 2024 by finding and logging an EarthCache. The official blog post can be read here .

It looks like in order to balance out the March Equinox souvenir, Geocaching is offering one for the September Equinox. Between September 22 and 28, log three geocaches, Adventure Lab locations or events to earn your souvenir. Learn more about it on the official blog post .

Oh, thank goodness! With the latest announcement of this season's Cache In, Trash Out, Geocaching has helped me to realize that I've been pronouncing it wrong. It's Sea-Toe, not Sigh-Toe (I guess my Dad had it right all along). Attend any CITO event from September 1 to November 30, 2024 to garner a well earned souvenir. What the heck is World Postcard Day, and why are we celebrating it? Well, the anniversary of the postcard is on October 1, when it was officially issued and recognized by a postal operator in 1869. They had been evolving since the 17th century, and the first World Postcard Day was held in 2019 to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the postcard. Postcards, like geocaches, help us to feel connected to people from all over. In order to earn the souvenir, we'll need to attend an event between September 29 and October 5, 2024. Updates on the Cosmic Quest summer souvenir campaign have been released! Between July 22 and September 1, the geocaching community will be trying to help our intergalactic friends by generating enough fuel for them to continue their stellar journey. Fuel is earned by completing the following tasks, with each task earning a certain number of units of fuel: Activate a trackable - 1 unit Attend an event - 3 units Receive a favorite point on an owned geocache - 2 units Find an EarthCache - 5 units Find any other cache type, excluding Webcams - 1 unit There will be three souvenirs available: Super Fuel - earn 20 units of fuel individually Ultra Fuel - earn 100 units of fuel individually Lift Off - earn 15 million units of fuel globally So, even though rewarding a cache a favorite point doesn't help you out as an individual in the short term, it helps someone else individually, and adds to the global units earned in the long run. Geocaching just announced something, maybe a new souvenir campaign. The blog post had an image of message that we were supposed to decipher. After taking a little bit of time to decypher it, I came up with: Hello Earthlings. We have come across a reference to geocaching.com on a metal creature roving the planet of Mars. It seems this geocaching is an activity meant to further exploration and community. We would like to better understand this interesting human activity and we are traveling to Earth to learn more. We only hope we will have enough fuel in our spaceship to keep exploring I'm excited to see what they're coming up with.

Are you ready for a challenge? Geocaching has teamed up with GeoGuessr for a limited time souvenir challenge. From March 26 through April 12, play the location guessing game on GeoGuessr. It's my understanding from reading the official blog post , that after guessing at least one out of ten locations correctly, you will be rewarded with a tracking code, which, when logged, will earn you a souvenir. The locations are shown using Google Street Maps, and are centered on actual geocaching locations. This is a limited time challenge, so don't forget to log your tracking code by April 12!

In addition to the Summer and Winter Solstices that we'll be celebrating this year, it appears that the Equinox will also be honored. For the March Equinox, logging three geocaches, Adventure Lab locations or events from March 17-23 will earn a souvenir. Learn more on the official blog post .

What did I accomplish this year? The answer is easy - nothing! At least where geocaching is concerned. That's not to say I didn't go geocaching, I did, and pretty often, but I kept busy this year trying to keep up with all of the souvenir campaigns. Check out my summary graphic to see what I mean: I started the year off by finishing up the Signal's Labyrinth campaign, then moved right in to the next multi-month souvenir campaign, the Wheel of Challenges. Taking two cruise vacations got me geocaching on four new Caribbean islands, where I earned location-specific souvenirs. My goals for 2024 are varied. I have some more travel planned, so getting new country souvenirs is something I'm working towards - I've even planned one leg of a flight so that it would go through a specific country that has Adventure labs in the airport.
