AAR: Spring Grove Area GeoTour

Today, after two years, we have completed the final three remaining caches that we needed in the Spring Grove Area GeoTour, and hopefully earned the associated souvenir.

This GeoTour brought us to the area of Spring Grove, Pennsylvania, and was our first exposure to gadget caches. Despite the fact that the GeoTour was several years old and many of the caches had not aged well, we were still able to get enough of the required codes to qualify for the geocoins for each of the three years. The geocoins were nice prizes and did not have tracking codes. The one for 2013 was a typical coin, but the coins for 2014 and 2015 were part of a four piece puzzle, which, when put together with the geocoins for 2016 and 2017 (maybe?), would form a "mega" coin. Unfortunately, new caches weren't put out for 2016 or 2017, so our puzzle is incomplete. After we finished finding the GeoTour's final three remaining caches, we stopped by the Visitor's Center to enquire about the other two geocoins, and learned that there is a plan to put out more caches, but not before the year ended. The GeoTour consisted of a good assortment of cache types: traditionals, mysteries, multiples, as well as an EarthCache and a Wherigo, and we really enjoyed the ingenuity and creativity involved with all of the hides, and I look forward to seeing what kind of caches they put out next.
